The purpose of the Bible Memory program at Grace is to encourage both children and adults to memorize God's Word. It is important to read the Bible and study it, but it is also very beneficial to memorize parts of it. This forces us to meditate on it and think about every aspect of the passage, and it sinks God's Word deep into our minds. It also means that we have it with us where ever we are, even if we don't have a Bible with us. The program also has extra rewards for children, as an added motivation. One of the options for rewards is money toward a Christian camp. Here is a list of some suggested camps.
"Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers." Psalm 1:1-3

Volunteers will listen to the verses. This may occur during Jr. Church, before and after Sunday School, during and after third service, or during the evening programs. There will be a hearer in Room 102, the Library, off the Fellowship Hall.

Goal: Memorization of various portions of the Bible for Families, Sunday School Students, Pioneer Girls, Boys Brigade, and Youth. All Adults are encouraged to memorize the Bible Memory Program.
Time: October through April.
Incentives: Grand award for all of the assignments successfully completed by the children will be money applied to a week at a Christian camp, or a teen may apply it toward a summer missions trip. If the child is not going to camp, a gift certificate will be given for purchase of books, videos or CD's at a Christian Bookstore. After the successful completion of the 3rd.assignment, a gift certificate for an ice cream sundae at Friendly's will be given. Suggested camps (but not limited to these) include: Harvey Cedars, Deerfoot Lodge, Camp Cherith, Word of Life, Camp of the Woods, Sacandaga Bible Camp, and Northern Frontier.
Assignments: There is a suggested schedule. The idea is NOT TO WAIT until the last minute to do everything, because of the Review Requirement.
1. If you are a new participant, you will start by memorizing the verses in Bible Memory 101, and continue in sequence each year. An exception is made if other family members have completed previous assignments. For the sake of family consistency, you may begin with the same passages as your older siblings, but eventually you will need to go back to the assignments omitted.
2. The regular standards of the Bible Memory program will apply to all memorization, including substitute passages for Brigade. Each assignment is to be memorized with only 3 mistakes allowed. From the second recitation, and after, any one of the previous passages will be included for review. Please bring your own Bible or Brigade handbook with you for recitation. Remind the hearer to record your recitation on your permanent card.
Church and Parental support: We need everyone to be supportive of this Program. It will only be successful if we all realize the value of committing God's Word to memory and parents will work with their children. Children need our support and encouragement. Last year many families, including the parents, successfully memorized all of the assignments. This year we are urging all adults to participate. The results will be worth it. Other members of the congregation can be supportive by volunteering as hearers and by providing financial support.
